How To Store Parsley?

There are a number of ways to store parsley. You can use the healthy kitchen herbs fresh, frozen, or dried. Depending on this, you use different storage locations and packaging. There is more information in the post.

Keep parsley fresh

If you prefer to eat fresh parsley, you should simply leave the healthy kitchen herb planted. Whether in the garden bed, in the window box, or in the herb pot on the window sill, you can harvest the parsley anywhere and enjoy it fresh.

  • If you do not plant the parsley too closely and only harvest the upper part of the plant, the herb will also grow back quickly. So you can enjoy them again and again.
  • If you have freshly harvested flat or curly parsley and have not used up all of it, you can place the stalks in a glass of fresh water. This will keep them fresh for a few more days.
  • Or you wrap the fresh parsley in a damp kitchen towel and put it in the fridge. Here, too, you can draw on it for a while.

How To Store Parsley? – Freeze parsley

You can freeze fresh parsley. Frozen parsley is also available in stores. Both can be defrosted if necessary and sprinkled over food, for example.

  • To freeze parsley, wash fresh parsley, pat dry, then finely chop.
  • Then put them in small freezer containers or in a freezer bag.
  • If necessary, take the parsley out of the freezer and loosen the desired amount with a knife or spoon, for example. Put the rest back in the freezer.

How To Store Parsley? – Save the dried parsley

Culinary herbs such as parsley increase their nutrient density when they are dehydrated through drying. This intensifies the taste, which creates a special aroma. Dried herbs are also used to make teas.

  • To dry parsley, take fresh stems and tie them into a bunch. Hang this bouquet upside down in a warm, airy place that is protected from light and dryness. Door frames are good, for example.
  • Leave the parsley there to dry for up to two weeks. If it crumbles easily, you can take it off and use it.
  • To store the dried parsley, grate it into crumbles. You can also grind them into a powder in a mortar.
  • In both cases, you can put the parsley in a shaker. Or you can use a normal jar, a screw-top jar, or a ceramic container for storing herbs. If you store the parsley in a dark, dry place, you can use it for several months.
