How To Toast Bread In An Oven?

Toasting toast in the oven: Here’s how

You can also easily toast slices of bread in the oven. With this method, you can toast as many slices of toast at once as will fit on a baking sheet. This method of preparation is perfect for family breakfasts, for example. If you like, brush your toast with a little butter or olive oil before baking. But it also tastes good without it.

  1. Preheat your oven – to a 180 °C fan oven.
  2. Place the desired number of bread slices next to each other on a baking sheet or on the wire rack.
  3. Bake the bread slices on the middle rack for about 10 to 15 minutes until they reach the desired browning. The exact baking time will depend on how thick the slices are and how dark you want them to be.
  4. Turn the toast halfway through the baking time.
  5. Tip: To ensure that the bread does not get too dark, check the baking process regularly and take it out of the oven earlier if necessary.

Why is it important to toast the bread?

  • Crispy surface: The bread gets a lovely crispy feeling while the filling is soft and juicy. A perfect combination!
  • Liquid barrier: Toasting “seals the bread, making it better at resisting meat juices and sauces.
  • Freshly baked feeling: Roasting brings out aromas and flavors that maximize the burger experience.

Other methods of toasting the bread:

  • In the frying pan: If you have fried sausages, hamburgers, onions, bacon, or other accessories in the frying pan, it is a perfect opportunity to take advantage of the flavors. Fry/toast the bread directly in the pan, and you get a nice, glossy surface and maximum flavor on the bread.
  • In the toaster: The easiest way to toast your hot dog or hamburger bun is in the toaster (if you have one that’s wide enough). In the toaster, you get even and nice toasting every time.
  • Grilling: For those who want really nice grill stripes on the bottom, roasting on the grill or in a grill pan is a given. Feel free to brush or spray the bread with oil/butter before grilling on high heat to get clear stripes.
